Boyles, Jerry Joseph (P2, C1, L11)

Private Jerry J. Boyles was born at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky on 23 September 1919. He first entered the Kentucky National Guard with Battery A, 138th Field Artillery at Louisville, on 21 December 1937. He entered federal service on 18 January 1941. Killed in action 12 July 1943 while serving with the 160th Field Artillery Battalion, 45th Infantry Division. His body was returned from Paestum - Mt. Soprano, Italy for interment on 3 August 1948, at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky.  In May 1940, Boyles listed his civilian occupation as furnace mechanic for the last five years.
