cundiff william h maybePrivate First Class William Cundiff, 25, of Morehead, Rowan County, Kentucky, died of wounds in France on 14 October 1918. At the time of death he was serving with Company D, 155th Infantry Regiment. Cundiff enlisted with Company M, 2nd Kentucky Infantry, on 21 July 1917 and also served with the 149th Infantry. He is buried in the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery Romagne, France. Inducted July 21, 1917 Co M 2nd Ky. Inf. (Company M 149 Inf) July 21, 1917 to May 12, 1918. Camp Shelby Repl Draft to July 4, 1918. 7th Company 1st. Inf Training Regiment to July 8, 1918. Company D 166 Inf to October 14, 1918. Grades, with date of appointment: Pvt July 21, 1917 ; Pvt 1cl September 26, 1918. Engagements: Champagne Sector; Battle of the Aureau; Chateau Thierry Sector; Battle of Wesles Woods; Chateau Thierry Sector; St. Mihiel Salient, Argonne Forest. Served overseas from: June 26, 1918 to October 14, 1918 Died: October 14, 1918 of wounds received in action. Buried at: Plot D Row 25 Grave 2 Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery Romagne, France.
