Isenberg, Regina L. (P3, C1, L21)

Staff Sergeant Regina Lynn Isenberg, 29, of Greenville, Muhlenberg County, was killed in a military vehicle accident on 10 April 1990 on the Western Kentucky Parkway near Leitchfield in Grayson County.

She was assigned to Headquarters, State Area Command (STARC) Kentucky Army National Guard. She was transporting an M-60 Tank engine from the Ford Regional Training Center (WHFRTC) to the Combined Support Maintenance Shop (CSMS) in Frankfort in an engineer dump truck on rain slick roads.

She was a Technician working as a Material Control and Accounting Specialist at the Unit Training Equipment Site (UTES 2) in Greenville.

Isenberg graduated from Warren Central High School in 1978 and joined the 2123rd Transportation Company (Heavy Truck), Kentucky Army National Guard in Bowling Green in February 1981. She also served in Headquarters and Headquarters Battery of the 138th Field Artillery Brigade. Her brother Eldon also served in the Kentucky National Guard.

Her awards included Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon (ARCOTR) and the Kentucky Service Ribbon.

She is buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green.

Guard driver dies as truck overturns

     LEITCHFIELD, Ky. A 29-year-old Greenville woman was killed Tuesday morning when a Kentucky National Guard dump truck she was driving overturned on the Western Kentucky Parkway near Leitchfield.
     Regina Lynn Isenberg died at the scene, according to Kevin Pharis of the Grayson County coroner's office.
     Pharis said Isenberg, who was a full-time member of the Guard, was westbound following another Guard vehicle when the accident happened about 8 a.m. Pharis said the tailgate from the first vehicle fell into the path of Isenberg's truck, which swerved into the median and overturned.
      Isenberg's survivors include her mother, Imogene Isenberg of Bowling Green; and a brother, Eldon Isenberg of Bowling Green.
     The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home in Bowling Green, with burial in Fairview Cemetery there.
