Marvel, DL 001 Staff Sergeant Denver L. Marvel was born 10 June 1920, at Crittenden County, Kentucky. He served with Company I, 149th Infantry, Kentucky National Guard. He was inducted into federal service on 17 January 1941.

Marvel was killed in action on Luzon Island, Philippine Islands on 12 May 1945. He is buried in the Mapleview Cemetery, Marion, Crittenden County, Kentucky. marvel denver l headstone
