Montgomery, Ryan Jay (P3, C1, L32)

Sergeant Ryan Jay Montgomery, 22, of Greensburg, Green County, Kentucky, was killed on Sunday, 3 July 2005 in Iraq when his up-armored HUMVEE encountered an improvised explosive device while returning from a convoy escort mission near Baghdad. At the time of his death, Montgomery was assigned to B Battery 1st Battalion 623rd Field Artillery, based in Campbellsville, Kentucky. His unit mobilized for Operation Iraqi Freedom in November 2004 and deployed to Southwest Asia in January 2005.
