Pigg, John Walker (P2, C3, L37)
Staff Sergeant John W. Pigg was born 9 May 1922, at Mayfield, Graves County, Kentucky. He served as a member of the 149th Infantry, Kentucky National Guard. He was inducted in federal service on 17 January 1941.
Pigg was killed in action 28 March 1945, on Luzon Island, Philippine Islands.
He was a graduate of grammar school and listed his civilian occupation as Farm hand.
Pigg was admitted to a hospital in June 1944 with acute Laryngitis, discharged 1944. He was hospitalized in March 1945 but died from battle wounds. Pigg was apparently shot in the leg which cut an artery and he bled to death.
Pigg is buried in the Farmington Cemetery in Graves County.
