Taylor, Elwood (P2, C4, L23)

Taylor, E 001Private First Class Elwood Taylor was born 13 February 1908, at Booneville, Owsley County, Kentucky. He enlisted in the Kentucky National Guard on 30 April 1925, at Booneville, with Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 149th Infantry. On 5 May 1928, he would become a member of Company F, 149th Infantry. He was inducted into federal service with his company on 20 January 1941. He was relieved from active duty and returned to state control on 24 October 1941. On 27 January 1942, he was recalled to active duty.

Taylor was killed in action on Luzon Island, Philippine Islands, on 8 February 1945. He is buried in the Dean & Rice Cemetery, Booneville, Kentucky.
