Hoops, Alvin J. (P1r, C1, L6)

hoops headstone 4Corporal Alvin J. Hoops, 24, of Wysox, Butler County, died 19 April 1918 of pneumonia while on federal active duty with his unit at Camp Shelby Mississippi.

Hoops enlisted in Company H of the 3rd Kentucky Infantry Regiment on 3 July 1916. Hoops, a native of Ohio County, listed his civilian occupation at the time of his enlistment as farmer. At the time of his death Hoops was serving with Company G of the 149th Infantry as the Kentucky Guard was reorganized in the run up to World War 1.

Hoops is buried in the Cool Springs Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Ohio County.
