Jones, Nickie B., II (P3, C2, L12)

NB Jones IINick B. Jones II, 43, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, September 27, 2010, in UK Medical Center in Lexington, Ky., following a motorcycle accident. SFC Jones was on his way to work with the Kentucky National Guard at the time of the accident. He was on full-time National Guard- Mobilization Augmentee orders with the 2123rd TC, at the time of death. He was born on March 10, 1967, in Ashland. He was rear detachment supply sergeant for the 2123rd Transportation Company, Kentucky National Guard. Nick served in the military for 24 years, entering active duty on January 14, 1986, at Fort Hood, Texas. On January 14, 1989, he was discharged from active duty and enlisted in the Kentucky National Guard in Ashland. As a member of the Kentucky National Guard, he served in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and served stateside on the Global War on Terrorism at Fort Knox, Ky. He was a member of the 201st Engineer Battalion and Poage Masonic Lodge 325, F&AM, where he was a 32nd degree Mason and had served as past master. He was a member of El Hasa Shrine and El Hasa Oriental Band, the York Rite Bodies, Apperson Chapter 81, RAM, Everett Council 65, R&SM, and Ashland Commandery 28-Knights Templer and was a Kentucky colonel. SFC Jones is buried in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast, located in Argillite, Greenup County, Kentucky.NB Jones grave
